Taking the Tiger and Wife up into North Carolina this up-coming weekend. We will be staying in the Table Rock area and will only have all day Saturday to ride and explore. My very rough ride plan is to run up 276 towards Brevard and just somewhere along the way, head west into the Nantahala Forest. It will be pretty much be a ride with no destination in mind. Just wondering if anyone that has been in that area before know of any cool spots or particular roads to hit? My wife likes to take pictures so scenic areas would be cool.

    Thanks ahead of time!

Looking at the map, looks riding up HWY 64 would run us right through your suggestions and into the Nantahala Forrest.

Keep going past Brevard on 276 - Looking Glass Falls is right on the side of the road, you can't miss it. Nice twisty ride all the way up to the Parkway. Either way on the Parkway from there is nice as well.

We have ridden up that way before. That is a really nice area and I love it! My wife was wanting to ride somewhere we have not explored before so that's why I was not looking to head into Brevard this time.

We live down in Charleston, SC. One trip I would like to do one day is ride up from Charleston to Cherokee. Then ride the whole Blue Ridge into Virginia and from there back home. Since I have never been on the whole parkway, I think that would be a fun trip.

I did the whole Parkway a few years ago, it was the first multi-day trip I had ever done on the motorcycle and that got me hooked on touring. We went up to VA and started at the north end and at the end spent a day in Robbinsville riding the roads around there. We took our time (6 days round-trip from Durham) but had an absolute blast.

Not really close to where you are planning on going, but one of my favorite areas to ride is in the northeast part of NC (around Little Switzerland). Fantastic roads, very little traffic, and many choices for places to stay. I usually go up there for at least 2 long weekends every year (I recommend Big Lynn Lodge). That area would also be a good overnight stopping point when riding the entire parkway.
