Well, my poor 450 uses a bit of fuel, so each stop it can potentially take 9 litres of juice, 12 stops so using that theory, need to make sure there was 100 litres of fuel out there.

As for my ute, a mate will follow us around most of the night checking up on us at fuel stops, making sure we haven't killed each other is the main thing.

    :(

I'm really looking forward to seeing some pictures. When does the event actually start?

And those six hour sessions, is there a break between them or? How does it work?

I swear I'm going to have to come just to watch this event some time.

From memory the first rider starts at 12 mid day (may be earlier, so any time now), there is a 30 min or so break after the first lap (diner break), 15 or so after the second, and another 30 after the 3rd for breakfast.

There is a bit of time at the start of the selective stages, and 15 or so min extra time is allocated at each of the two fuel stops.

But I am running from memory so I may be wrong.

But it is one rider, one bike for 24hrs, there is no big breaks, you don't get to sleep, you eat in a hall with other riders while still in your riding gear, and if you go of your minute those breaks are a lot smaller/non existent.

I crashed out on my first attempt last year (I completed one lap) and spent the rest of the race at a fuel dump watching the riders go past and I actually enjoyed myself.

Currently in riders briefing, firat bike away at 11.01

Basically we do 12 competitive sections, and transpory totalling about 200km for a lap, end of laps 1 and 3 we have 44 minute meal break and end lap 2 its like 15 minute break. 3 fuel stops with about 15 minutes at each of them.

I can't imagine how crap that must feel. I had a dream a few months ago that I was trying to get through scrutineering and I realised I had forgotten some big important part of the bike. I was still gutted when I woke up and realised it was a dream.

Made me realise I wanted another crack though.

That's tough for Beet. I suppose there's always next year. It's a hard thing to do all the prep and have to withdraw so early on. Commiserations.

We didn't get to the start at Kapunda. Did a test run yesterday with Ron my passenger, went great, other than doing adjustments to suspension. Then this morning fired her up as usual, riding towards Kapunda from Dutton about 3ks out of Kapunda she gives a cough and dies. No compression nothing. Worked on it a while then got trailer. Sad sad. NEXT YEAR. Thanks to all for their interest all the very best.
