Sorry I wasn't riding this day but I stopped by to check the progress on replacing the old blue bridge in Dandridge, TN. I know what you see is green but apparently when it was built it was blue and stayed that way for many years.

This is on hwy 92 in Dandridge. The new bridge span is now open, the old one closed, and they've peeled out all the decking on the old bridge so I fear it doesn't have much time left.

Longest - Pony Truss Bridge on Route 66.
The Pony Bridge at the Canadian River is 3944.33 feet long and contains 38 Pony Trusses. It was completed July 1, 1933. Each of the trusses are numbered (1-38).
It sure seems very long when you are on it. This is definitely an experience to have and is the best example of a truss bridge along the Mother Road, Route 66.
An interesting side note about this historic bridge is that it is featured in the 1939 classic film "The Grapes of Wrath" staring Henry Fonda. The scene where grandpa dies and is buried was shot near the west end of this bridge.

I am guessing the bridge is on some kind of flood plain?

The pan handle and western Oklahoma haven't had any measurable rain in 55 days. Here's a shot of the river from the middle of the bridge.
Most times the river is a few inches deep and 10 to 20 feet wide. In heavy rain and flood conditions it can get a half mile wide and move fast
and deep. Yes this is a flash flood area. Most of the rivers in the west of the state are like that. The eastern third of our state gets more rain
and the water runs clear and clean. The rivers out here run red like the Red River that separates Oklahoma and Texas.
