I have a Merida big 9 29er hard tail it's kinda the base of the mid range bikes : Manitou fork -lockable fork Sram nx cranks and 1*11 gear set Sweet rims I think I paid $1300 ish and then to add to it I bought a nicer set of pedals and cleats I'm currently looking for a commuter fixie so I can ride that instead of the mtb to work and just keep the mtb for trail riding
Guys I am so missing MTB season ... MTB Riding is becoming huge down here That bloody white stuff(snow) gets in the way Bring on spring....! Rowdy
For anyone interested. There is a Specialized Turbo Levo and Kenevo demo day/weekend at Sparrow Hill in the ACT this weekend.
She's learning....a few weeks ago I posted a pic of my 13 yo stealing my bike through this section. We returned yesterday and she had been a bit more receptive to advice during the ride. Won't be much longer untill she's beating me through the technical sections Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Visited You Yangs for the first time today with a bunch of older blokes who all used to race. Came away with the red dragon rampant on my left shin after a whoopsie on a rock garden. The fastest guy was riding a mid-1990s Specialized Stumpjumper with cantilever brakes and no suspension - goes to show that high-tech isn't everything. Eldest guy is over 70. 42km of glorious single track with a few short stretches on park access roads. Grins all round.
So Tyres and Oil ....... Running 29 * 2.2 and need some new rubber - mix of gravel, commute and single any suggestions
Stop putting oil on your tyres? It'd help to know what you've run before and what you thought of them / what you're looking to improve (mostly so you can teach us )
Anyone looking for a full suspension E-bike. This is a pretty good price for one of these. https://www.bikeexchange.com.au/a/m...carbon-6fattie-m-only-at-this-price/103651641 Perhaps a little more negotiation.
Hi Guys and Girls My first post!! A lurker out of the shadow....... Lentil...I have a full rigid Trek FX1 that I use for fitness and fun on gravel roads. It is the best cheap bike I have ever used but the stock rubber was "exciting" (read scary) on gravel corners. After some dicussion I changed to Maxxis Renegade tyres. Great gravel grip, quiet and fast rolling on hard surface (no real single track experience) BUT seriously expensive. Seriously, I have put tyres on my car for less......I have tried to erase it from my memory but $90 ea seems to make me break into a sweat.......
How about that...my first post....and it is wrong!! The tyres are Maxxis Rambler not renegade. Just goes to show that you shouldn’t do things from memory when you dont have one..... Apologies to all those flogging the Maxxis brochure for a ficticious tyre.....
The maxis renegade I came across was for an ATV ... I thought that is a fat tyre for a bicycle .. and $90 is quite cheap for that amount of rubber.
Found this today. Bikes made by Milton Jones being saved from scrapheap to preserve Perth cycling history - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation).
