Hello SE Idaho. Dr. Zed's brother here. I got a bike last year after a 20 year hiatus. My bike is an '89 Transalp. I live in Pocatello.
I am going to Westfest in Steamboat Springs and looking for some company. Only 470 Miles to Steamboat from Pocatello.

Lost River on Sunday. This was at the rest area just past INL on the way to Arco. It is normally dry.

McCoy Creek pass is open. Jensen pass closed and I suspect the Skyline Ridge Road will have mud and drifts. However I made a successful raid on Wyoming yesterday. Over the pass to Alpine and about halfway up the Little Greys River road. Looks to me like the Grays River has about as much water in it as the snake does in late summer. (Lots)

However, If you wanted to join in on the BOM, there's a couple guys in Rigby and I are going to hook in to their route by heading up the Medicine Lodge Rd to the Pioneer Mountains on July 15. All big bike friendly roads. A heck of a lot closer than Steamboat.

Regarding the BOM, I'm setting tracks through central WY this year. Still looking for any really good suggestions from Union Pass area down through Pinedale to Atlantic City, Sinks/Lander over to Ten Sleep, and then Tens sleep to Cody. Big bike (1200 GS etc.) capable in normal conditions, but as much dirt as possible.

Thank you for the information. My brother will be at the West Fest, so that is my motivation to choose that event. I cant leave work (or home) two weeks in row. Wish I could though!

WOW! I have never seen that spot with more than a springtime trickle in it.
It's been a wet wet year here in S.E. Idaho for sure.
A great year for the wildflowers, too.

    Beware!
Bone Rd was oil sealed yesterday afternoon (6/14/17). Slick as snot.
Rode to Bone store for dinner and spent all morning today cleaning the oily mud from the bike.

EW! I suspect that doesn't help cooling an air head. And that's what I are... um ... The Ural!

I have at least 2 other guys headed with me to Union Pass on the north end of the Wind River Mts. for the eclipse Mon. Aug 21. Leave IF on Saturday. 1st night Greys River or top of McDougal Gap. Sunday to camp at Lake of the Woods right smack on top of the continental divide on the CDR trail. All big bike friendly roads. Lots of trails for those of the gnarly persuasion once we get there.

I think I have seen you around the neighborhood on that Ural. I am always in a car and going the other way or I'd have chased you down to see your ride. Pretty sure I saw you on So. 49th E, in Ammon, and once out on Ammon Rd. when you were headed toward the end of pavement and Taylor mountain and I was going North. I always wondered who that guy on the Ural sidecar rig was, and now I know.

Prolly me. But there's another guy lives off 49th up on the bench has a gear up and the new Indian dealer across from Wally world on Utah ave. is also a Ural dealer. It sure fills the gap left when I couldn't ride on two wheels anymore.

Bonneville county just closed the Snake River road at Heise. I guess the Wolf Flat area is flooded.

Went down the Skyline Ridge Road today and it was it very good condition. Kepps crossing was pretty torn up. Dan Creek was dry but a little bumpy at the south end.

After you cross into Forest Service land the mudders have been playing.

    Skyline was great...

    Dan Creek Road was dry.

Horse Creek Road in the little valley where it crosses the Grey's Lake outlet. At the other end of this valley where the road climbs up they did a lot of work and the rain damage from last summer is fixed.

Just got back from a cage trip to Utah. Came back via Monte Cristo and would say that if you're on a dirt road that gets up to about 8500 ft you might run into an impassable snow bank. I drove on the Cache crest road a little bit and dry though you could pick a turnaround that could be muddy .. ahem... But just looking at the mountains around, below 8500, looks dry. Last week FS was reporting that all campgrounds are open in the Greys river area.
