To quote some Johnny Paycheck. You can take this this job and….. I handed in my 4 weeks notice at work today. I am retiring.

Do I have enough money ? Of course not. No-one really does. Life is short to let work get in the way of the good things in life.

So, the Vstrom will be serviced. Camping gear packed and a road some where else is calling.

Brilliant, we only live so long, so do it while you can because maybe you can't tomorrow. I was fortunate to get out at 55, 8.5 yrs ago, and hardly ever look back.

I am 57.5 years. Which means 10 years to what's left of a old age pension. Silly me, I changed over from CSS to APSS super. If I was CSS, I would be on easy street :)

    Is 'congratulations' appropriate? Anyway, congratulations.

I have been working part time for the past 11 years and will be joining you as fully retired in a few weeks. Good eh.

We must be quite near on birth dates.
And I am on a NSW PSS pension, so it is pretty good.

Good stuff, I pulled the pin at 58 and I figure my apss pension will last me another 10 or so years and then there's the investment property.
If i'm still alive then i think the government can give me the old age pension considering i will have been mostly self funded. I'm just avoiding those pricks at centerlink.:lol3

    Well done on your decision.

I agree with the others ....
Work your ass off your whole life only to find out you're oo fucked to do anything with the time you have left.

I decided to start part time working a couple of years ago. Back to school to retrain.
    Best choice I ever made.

Now to pick up a 701 to enjoy.

    Well done Dan

Good on you J.D., coupla years yet for me, still got two offspring at Uni to support.
I’m reminded by the thread title of the story by Hugh Lunn of his early days as a journalist when stories were filed by ‘telex’ and payment was per word and a colleague of his resigned with the cable “Upstick Job Arsewards”.

Not a bad place to give notice and it looks like you have more than 4 weeks worth of gear stashed on that VStrom. All the best.
