    Hi all,

I’m currently a college student and wanting to ride the TAT during the summer of 2018. I would not like to do this alone, so I’m looking for people with similar aspirations. If you’re interested in going as well and looking to bring someone along feel free to send me a message!

    Thanks - Chad!

    Hi Chad,
I am planning on running the TAT in 2 parts next year. Currently my plan is to ride from the east to Colorado in May by myself. Then in July head back out with my son to finish it up.
What kind of time frame are you thinking? Are you looking to camp or motel it?

@SOLOKLR I was anticipating on riding the whole thing in one ride, I also would like to camp most days and every 3rd day or so get a motel to regroup, wash up, etc.. message me if you’re still interested in going! I wouldn’t be opposed to doing a double trip but I think the single run is what I was expecting.

As always plans change. We are hoping to start the TAT on or around the 15th of June. For now it will be me and my son. We are planning on taking our time and just cruising along. Same game plan as far as camping and motels as you. If the timing works out you are more than welcome to go with us. If we're too slow I'm sure we will run into others out there you can take off with. Won't hurt anyone's feelings. This all hinges on work letting me take the time off, this could turn into a 2 week west end ride. I'll keep you posted as we get closer.

I hope you find someone, I may do it again to cover sections I missed due to conditions this year.
It might help if you put some more info out there, such as a better time frame of when, which tracks, your skill level, your planned pace, type of bike etc, so you can find someone with similar pace, route, bike et al.
We had a 2017 TAT planning thread that worked pretty well where people posted their dates, routes, bikes, style and such.

    Hey Chad,

I'm departing Reno NV in May 28-30th and catchin the Stahlratte on the 18th of June. I will be going through Albuquerque NM and spending a night or 2 there. My parents live there, so we will have a place to rest and change our oil and what not. After that, my next rest stop is Oaxaca for a day. And booking it to catch Stahlratte. But unfortunetly past that, i will be splitting in Colombia, as i may chill there for a while. Let me know if you are interested. It would be awesome to have someone to ride with at least part of the way

You may want to rethink this as the passes, especially the ones accessed on the tat will most likely be snowed in until at least mid to late June and that's all he good stuff you really want to go see

Like always plans change, my son is riding with me the whole time. So east coast departure mid June for us. We've already ridden the COBDR, so if we hit parts we can't get through it's ok. Just happy to be out and having fun with the kid.

I'd love to ride the tat this year. I'm a 35y/o nursing student and & I'll probably be camping as much as possible and taking an 07 GSA (could bring my old klr though). Leaving from Augusta GA late may/early june...anyone's plans vaguely match up?

We will be a couple of weeks behind you on some old KLRs. Our plan is to visit my dad in Augusta (actually Harlem now) for his birthday in June. Head to the coast, visit friends and family in NC. Then finally get moving west. Safe travels, if you run into any problems, need parts or whatever, shoot me a message. We can pony Express them up the trail.

Very cool. I actually only live like 15mins from Harlem, I'm on the next exit up on I20. I'll definitely shoot you a message, my timeline is somewhat flexible.
