No I didn't. The reroute was very short, maybe 200 yards. Coming from Appalachia pass the radar tower the track stayed left and encountered the gate. A middle line dead ended at a radio tower. A third line to the right is an old logging road that was over grown but easily passable. We came across another gate that had easy passages around it on either side. We have been running into several issues of gates popping up in the area. Penn Virginia owns much of the old mining areas people once considered "public". They have recently started leasing land for hunters. The hunters are responsible for the land and put gates up. Of course they shouldn't do so on a public road but it has happened. I'm not sure if this is what has happened on Black Mountain but could be. Let me know when you're in the area and want me to tag along. I live in Big Stone Gap. If you want to see some other forest roads in the area I can give you a tour.
