    Flying Marmot,

Good move you made! I went from a 2003 Concours 1000 to my current 2006 DL1000 in 2015. The Concours was a great moto, the Strom is too, for different reasons. Just returned from a CMA Roads & Trails Rally near Olympia, WA. Had a grand time on the Strom getting there, enjoyed equally the dirt skills seminars taught by a veteran trials rider, the mixed pavement/gravel roads, and the run back over White Pass on nearly empty roads today.

Suzuki has built a great all-arounder.

Ride it in good health for many tens of thousands of miles and smiles.

Nothing scenic here, but this is the first pic of the new-to-me Strom since I got it all set up.

Parked for the night. I don’t know how the iron butt folks do it. I ran just a little over 500 miles today, and I’m whooped. I suspect that the 70 degree temperature swing didn’t help (38 when I left camp between Sun Valley and Stanley, Idaho, and 108 was the highest I saw in eastern Oregon).

Great ride this morning turned into a hot/smoky/windy sufferfest this afternoon. Once I climbed towards Mt Bachelor from Bend things improved greatly. Have a big bag of kayaking/climbing/first aid gear that I think might catch a ride with the post office for the return leg- having stuff on the seat behind me seems to have brought back the helmet buffeting I thought was gone. Planning on a longer detour home that doesn’t require any of that stuff anyway. With an occasional food resupply, I could pretty much be out indefinitely with everything tucked away in the boxes.

Nice job! Any chance you have other pics from behind? I'd like to see the width. And how have those HF cases held up?
