This thread is amazing and it motivates me to go on my own adventure on my 883 Sporster. It cannot be that much worse than a chopper. . .right?

Your 883 would be a whole lot more comfortable than that chopper Doug was riding. At least you have a rear suspension. Most of you have likely never riden a hardtail. I have and I have no idea how in hell Doug lasted on those cow paths. Wouldn't be surprised if he was still pissin blood.

I talked to Mike yesterday, he & Elliot were on BMW's, & we met in Vladivostok & travelled to Japan together.
They had the broken BMW's, which Im happy to say got fixed in Japan, & they were able to travel on to Australia & New Zealand, before coming home last week.

I found this video they shot in Japan at the port

Great ride report, it took me 3 1/2 days to read the whole thing. Also, sent a few dollars to the kids.

Wow! I just read every single page of of your ride report and am just in awe. I feel very inspired to say the least. I hope one day I can find a way take that much time off and ride around the world.

    Hey Doug,

I just got my latest copy of the AMA magazine, and saw your article. Nice job! I got a good chuckle to myself when I read the "What Bike Number" part.

Thanks for the good read, in the magazine, and especially here on ADV.

They sent me a copy of the AMA mag last week. They took it from my webpage. It wasnt very accurate really, but its cool that it is in there.

they send me a draft so I could fix anything that was wrong. I did, & sent it back, but not much was changed.
its funny how they put in there how much I love france
    :rofl

This is Charlie, Doug's friend from Nis, Serbia. You know that I was in a bike wreck and had serious spine surgery.
Thanks to my friend Doug who provided me with a laptop, I'm now writing this from the hospital, the rehabilitation centre in Nis. I want to thank you all for your support which helped me through the most difficult time of surgery and many post surgical complications.
I will need a lot of time and patience and have to be persistent in order to be able to recover. Thanks to all of you again.
    All the best!
