That was me.
lol A little out of the way. Our Guzzi group meets for Breakfast there most 3rd Sundays. So my friend on the Guzzi Quota and I met there. My Guzzi's would have some issues on Hawk Rd.
Hawk road I think north to south
Full video, sorry about the sucky editing still working on that.
Just an FYI, my buddy and I rode TMT a week and a half ago and stopped for a break on Bashan Hill Rd in Cummington MA, we were approached by a Mass Environmental Officer (in an F150 no less...figures) who asked us if we were part of a rally. Apparently he lives on that road and was annoyed that a few riders were "tearing up the road" (his words). There was maybe two areas where I could see where someone roosted or stepped out a bit in a corner, it wasn't torn up at all, but I figured this would pose as a warning to people riding that section.
I have wondered about the people who live on these out of the way roads must think about this increase in motorcycle traffic and whats up with it. The officer may have a thing against off road motorcycles.
from my experience most of off trail riding and "tearing it up" are done by locals
Does anyone know if the trail is open to ride? Is it seasonal rides only? Snow covered from the storm earlier this week? Thinking of making a ride up there this weekend and planning to do TMT north and Alt route back south. Also is it possible to do as day ride from Long Island?

Sure, you can ride it. If you are talking about riding it on one of these:
We just got 2-3 feet of snow in 2 weeks, and we're supposed to be getting more early next week. These roads aren't gonna be open until June at this rate.
Snow in March sucks!!!!!!
Doesn’t anyone look at the Weather Channel these days????
New England Gets 3 NorEasters in 2 Weeks. All over the news.
Maybe he is coming from this Long Island: https://www.google.com/maps/place/L...ac68abe088712e!8m2!3d23.1764239!4d-75.0961549
Mud season is coming in the area. Many roads, while open are not worth riding till almost May 1st many years. I remember riding a town road in late April one year, pre riding the BBA,and when I put my foot down to make a U-turn (I missed a side road) my boot was nearly pulled off by the thick mud I sank at least 10" into. Some of the roads aren't plowed at all and snowmobiling on them packs it to ice and the thaw takes much longer. Give it at least a month.
Thanks for the update Rusty.

Thinking of riding the TMT tomorrow, Friday, 4/13, solo on a F700GS. Any reports on road conditions?
Worthington, any shady areas may still be ice/snow covered. If not, they'll be wet from the melting today. Further north, they got more snow than us in April, so I'd expect more covered roads. The last April storm where Worthington got 8", Cheshire/Ashfield got 24" where Pittsfield had snow all day, but no accumulation. Oh, and we haven't had enough rain (yet) to get rid of road salt since the last time it was used.
Other than that, great. Anything paved will be fine, but salty. We're supposed to get rain today/tonight, but hasn't happened yet. No one's swept roads yet, so look out for sand.
It's Friday the 13th yah know!
this pic is from East Otis 5 days ago (Sunday) from a friend of mine
full report here:
WOW, too much ice and snow for these old bones. Thanks for the road conditions report...doesn't look like fun. Really glad I checked!!! Cheers
