September 2016. We got detoured by some construction a time or two but no locked gates.

Couldn't add in the longest stretch of dirt road in PA? It probably had no easy way to tie in to the rest of your route ...hmmm

Do you have an updated track to avoid the construction?

It would be nice to have an updated version. We have a week long ride coming up in the being of may that includes the route.

    Peace

The construction we ran in to did not look like it was going to be long term and I would guess that by now it would be resolved and there could be other areas. The GPS was an effective tool for quickly and efficiently working around the problems and getting back on the track. I wouldn't hesitate to jump on the same track and do the ride again.

I may have already noted this in this thread, but for anyone doing this ride you really owe it to yourself to explore the Seven Mountains trail system that the TPAT goes directly through. There are over 100 miles of trails there that go from easy to beautiful to very challenging.

Even at a leisurely pace, this ride isn't more than a day and a half. Spend some time exploring.

And if you're coming from WVa over to hook on to this track, look up the South Mountain Creamery for an ice cream stop and if you're camping, the Owens Creek Campground is quite nice. Very wooded campsites on a stream all close enough to hear Marine One coming and going from Camp David.

a bunch of us plan on doing this ride this fall. I live near Frederick and we ride the 7 Mtns area a lot. I was thinking it was a 1 1/2 day ride and am glad to see you confirm that.

Kyler, we camped at Owens Creek in the Catoctin and made it up for an overnight in Loch Haven. We had lunch in NY on our way to Cooperstown. 3 KLRs and a 1200GS on the ride. I really like the riding in the 7 Mtns area and we grab a cabin at 7 Mtns campground or tent camp at Woodward Cave. It's a bit farther but Marienville is great as well. There's a camp right at the trail head there.

ironically, we are thinking of meeting at Owens Creek or one of the others Friday night. Bunch of guys coming over from B'more. Planning on a leisurely ride Saturday, camp/hotel Sat PM and dash home on Sunday before the kitchen passes get revoked.

Hello, my very first post on this site! I live in north central PA. Anyone riding in this area looking for some local input - I am always interested in joining up for a while. No shortage of good riding in the area.

Got out today, rode the trail from McVeytown to Shippensburg. Great trail! I enjoyed the paved roads as much as the dirt. Germantown Rd sucked nasty washboard but the rest was good. Can't wait to get back when I have more time. I saw 2 deer, flock of turkeys and 1 camel. Yes, 1 camel. Somewhere near Newburg above the turnpike. Great job to the person/persons that put this trail together! Thanks

yesterday bkendig76 and i rode the bottom section from near the maryland line up to 322. we accidentally missed a turn and came out at tussey mountain instead of looping south before 322. thanks for putting the work into this route, it is a great mix of paved and unpaved surfaces, and i really enjoyed the variation. some beautiful scenery and overlooks along the way. we ran into one bridge that was out here https://goo.gl/maps/f8eorVsrGzC2, but just followed the detour signs back to the route.

thank you for the work you put into this route, from what i saw it is a great ride and we'll probably do the other sections sometime. we had a great day of riding!
