Important information for those who think "roughing it" means turning the electric blanket down to medium. :)

I plan to be on the first ferries across the dempster rivers in early june. Ive watched this Tuk road being built for years waiting for the opportunity to ride to the waters edge. I really can't wait. EO7's seem to be best for me as I will have a 12000 mile RT. hoping for an early thaw.

Im also heading up to D2D approx. the same time with the plan of heading to Tuk after. I have reservations at the goldrush campsite for D2D and plan to camp most of the trip. Perhaps those travelling to D2D from the Lower Mainland should consider a ride/meeting in advance?
    FYI - I will be traveling on a KTM1090r

I live downtown Vancouver. I'm planning on leaving on the 16th and doing the TOW on the way up. Also tenting at the gold rush.

I would be up for a meet up before the trip

There will be a few of us at D2D that plan on riding up to TUK just before the D2D. We will be more than willing to share a ride report. Now if we are delayed by various reasons, I know I will be going up ASAP after D2D on my 650 Dakar. I too will be camping at the Goldrush.

OK lets plan on a ride/meeting late April early May to discuss the D2D trip. Perhaps we meet at Starbucks in Squamish on a Saturday or Sunday?? or meet in Van and ride to squamish....or alternatively meet for a coffee or beer during the week after work?

    Any suggestions for a location/date/time?

We are leaving Dawson City very early on the morning of June 18th, and riding straight through to Inuvik. Then on the next morning, June 19th, we ride from Inuvik to TUK...have a glorious lunch.....and after touring the hamlet of TUK....we ride back to the hotel in Inuvik. Finally, on the next morning, June 20th, we ride from Inuvik straight through back to Dawson City. Our group is small, by intention and design, and all very experienced riders.

This sounds a bit ambitious considering the current state of the road to Tuk:

Hope it goes well and you have good weather. The road looks like it would be challenging enough when it's been dry. Looking forward to hearing how this goes. Posting up a trip report?

All four of our riders that are part of the Circus Side Show Tent of Freak Acts will be posting on one of the threads.....NOT on this thread....as this thread is about riding to TUK...AFTER.....the D2D. We, the intrepid riders of the Circus Side Show Tent of Freak Acts will be riding to TUK....BEFORE....attending the D2D.

There are other threads specifically designed for riders going to TUK.

I tend to not pontificate as much as others about the minute by minute details of our rides,
so mine will be more.....rode there...here are the pictures....rode back....bite me. :imaposer

I on the other hand while riding with this merry band of bikers will be giving real time updates with every turn of the wheel. No stone will be left unturned, psycholgic evaluations, physiological exams, motorcycle diagnostic downloads, road conditions at each mile marker...all these parameters will be strictly monitored, documented, and posted.

Absolutely, each bike will change tires throughout the ride and reports of how each tire on each bike in every condition will be evaluated by our team of experts.

    Hi Mike
I also used to live in NL now live in eastern ON, I have ridden my Vstrom from here to Torbay NL and to Tofino BC, I have also ridden a KLR from ON to AK & YT a few years ago, I got as far as the Arctic Circle on that trip. I am planning a ride from ON to Tuktoyaktuk hopefully leaving soon, the problem is CBC News North and NWT roads website both show the section of the Dempster between Inuvik and Tuk to be closed, anyone got any further info on this???
While I am on, if anyone is riding in BC do not miss hwy 6 going east from Vernon to the Arrow Lake ferry, it is way more fun and much better scenery than the "legendary" Dragon.
If anyone is up north do not miss The Top Of The World it was an excellent experience.
See you all on the road
