Since you like home made stuff.... check this out. The phone will go above and in front of the panel.

PS: Is the XD or the Pro the best choice ?

Screen is from Triumph 1200 explorer. More for cold/rain in CO mountains but way too hot in NM desert though. Bugs are a bonus.

I have both and I much prefer the Duraforce Pro. It's much snappier and is actually a upper tier phone, then again it comes down to how much you want to spend. I'm running it through the gauntlet on a trip now through Mexico.

I'm running a Kyocera Air on my DR650 and it simply won't charge. On the wall its works, on the bike it does not. Odd thing though, my S5 charges fine on the wall, but nearly twice as much on the bike.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why the Kyocera won't charge on the bike but the S5 will. :scratch

I had charging trouble on my Kyocera while on the bike too. Aside from the bad USB adapter from Cycle Gear that had to be replaced I had port trouble too.
The microUSB port on the phone was really dusty and caked with trail crud. It required multiple washes with rubbing alcohol to get the big chunks out. Then applied some dielectric grease to the port. Just a dab of this stuff was used.
My last ride the phone was much better and actually charged one the bike.

I figured out the issue. Phone won't charge on any charger with an output greater than 1A. I tried two wall chargers and like five bike chargers, anything above 1A wouldn't work. This had been bugging me for months. I'm so happy to have finally figured it out.

Ack, man that was a helluva process. I spent all that time and money on equipping my bike with the highest output chargers, cables, and plugs I could get on it. only to discover the phone cuts out at 1A. :hack

It could be that using an exactly 1A charger works fine, but I'd not seen consistent results with the adapters I have. Some chargers that have ratings >1A that worked fine, while one that was <1A failed. Even had two adapters of the same brand model where one worked fine, and the second didn't:

    KIMG0118.JPG

    # Charger Charger Rating

    (Charged at ~1A):
    1. DelTran Battery Tender adapter 2.1A
    2. MICTUNING SAE-USB adapter 2.1A

    (Limited charging to 80mA):
    3. MICTUNING SAE-USB adapter 2.1A (Same exact model as one that passed above)
    4. MICTUNING SAE to USB Cable Adapter 2.1A
    5. MOTOPOWER MP0609 SAE to USB Adapter 3.1A
    6. elago Nano EL-Car-C1 USB Car Charger 700mA

So far the only way I've found to get charging to work reliably so far is to mod a cable to short D+/D- or use one of those Smartpower adapters mentioned in the Equipment thread ( http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/phone-not-charging-on-the-bike.1214395/ ).

I think they make them to order. I imagine with Spring around the corner they might be getting flooded. Funny thing, I actually saw the Perfect Squeeze up in the accessories section of my local BMW dealer.

My Perfect Squeeze arrived a few days ago. Took about two weeks to ship from time of order.

The mount is well worth the wait. Communications about lead times could be better.

Nice topic, being in the UK the phones mentioned are US based telcos so I purchased a HomTom HT20 4.7" waterproof mobile from ebay for £85 just waiting for a mount to arrive and I`ll give it a whirl.
Oh and Ive used the free service provided by Freedom Pop for the sim so get 200Mb and 200 mins monthly for no outlay
