Mrs. Mudd likes the idea idea of a hot water shower a lot. Good for sore achy muscles. I don't mind at all if it's coin operated or rate chrge to cover the cost.

I plan on doing the entire trip this summer, I have only gone from Winthrop off road and the couple sections to Canada. If there would be a ADV stop over point I bet I would drop in. You could even have a few forgotten essentials for sale like the BDR Maps, a couple tubes, a tire or 2, water or what ever! Good luck with it!

I'm looking to explore a bit of the BDR in 2018. Mostly the section just south of Ellensburg to start with. In looking at the maps, is any of that land privately owned? I want to camp and figured if I just head a bit off the BDR (100-200 yards) I'd be fine.

    Thoughts?

You will be fine - that's how I do it and if you search this thread, there are some great recommendations with pictures (many with amazing views and streams as a source of water)

IMHO you will be more than fine. Lots of riding west of the WBDR between Manastash creek rd and Hwy 410 . You can also loop back to Cle elum or explore the riding south of Hwy 410.

Wife and I will be doing WABDR again in 2018, on four wheels of course as part of our fun is using the chainsaw. Once I get dates figured out I'll post em up with radio channels etc if anyone's out there listening.

A group of us are doing the WABDR in the beginning of July, should be fun. Interesting idea about the Air B&B, I'll PM you about it.

How are the top couple sections by the border? I am in Vancouver and thinking riding North-South for those sections on a weekend loop from Van could make for a great weekend. Get to the Nighthawk crossing on Friday after work, then ride to the highway 20 junction and back to Vancouver on Saturday/Sunday.

I am on a 2017 Africa Twin, with limited experience riding offroad on the big bike (and certainly no pro on a dirtbike either). Is that too ambitious for my bike and experience with it? Do many people ride these routes with big bikes? I'm happy to take it slow and cruise along.

I found them to be pretty easy, but we are all different. There are great videos on the WABDR on you tube, take a look at them. Thats a good ride and I have done the Winthrop ride on pavement back tp Van many times it's a blast. When you decide to go, I may be in and I am sure there may be others as well.

I like to think of myself as a pretty good rider, but relative to a lot of the guys on here, my experience and skill level is probably relatively low. I suppose I will just have to ride it and find out!

I plan on doing the ride some time in the spring. I would be happy to have some company!

Pretty straightforward fsr's in that section, so should be no problem on the AT. Keep an eye on this thread to figure out when the snow is off the route. "Spring" might be July!

Northernmost leg is a half a day, Nighthawk to Conconully, riding easy. Conconully south, longer leg and a day trip. Mrs1911fan and I had MotionPro crap out on us and wound up just finding our way out to Pateros and riding home to Cashmere. Good thing, as the whole area was on fire the next day.

I'm planning on riding the WABDR in July. South to north. Finish with North Cascade hwy. to Whidbey Island, ferry to Port Townsend then 101 to home in Olympia.
