I have an opportunity to travel for work down to texas, Louisiana and mississippi in the next few weeks. Im thinking about either hauling the bike down (its snowing here now, 4" cast today, won't be riding!)

Checking out the route there doesn't seem to be much that stands out as a fun trip other than the route home through the ouchita mountains in Arkansas, which I'm very familiar with..

Can anyone recommend a route or things to see around Dallas, shreveport and jackson? I usually just take hwy 20 to shreveport then 80 to jackson..

Im open to ideas. I have probably a full week of travel with three required stops.. I looked in the day trip and gps files but couldnt find much in those areas.

I've just started looking into the Dallas to Jackson routes, since I need to make a round trip over there during the next couple of months. Let me know if you find anything appealing and I'll accept the challenge.

There's some pretty country to see around Caddo Lake in Texas which is North West of Shreveport. I've not explored the Louisiana side of the lake, but can't see that it would be much different on that side. Most of my riding was done around Uncertain and in that general area.

Quinlan to Emory to Alba to Quitman. Then FM 2088 to 271, down to Gilmer, then 156 over Lake O' The Pines, then right on FM 729. From Jefferson, 49 east to Caddo Lake. Then 2 up to Vivian. Follow 2 all the way to Sterlington.

This looks like an interesting route.. Wifi isnt loading satellite images on google today for some reason.. What would I expect to see?

It looks like the natchez trace might be part of the route up to calhoun city are (last stop for business) but once I heard it was 50mph I changed my mind!

I didnt have time for much dirt, had to get back home, but detest the Interstate (or major highways). There looked like some great off road forest riding around Farmerville to Homer.

I rode back from Vicksburg, MS last month on this route (in reverse order of course). Left Vicksburg on the Interstate for about 30 minutes, then turned north at Delhi, LA, going by Poverty Point. Then hit 134 goin west.

Made it in a day, at a steady pace. Interesting crossing all those lakes. I think it was 8 or 9 altogether.

Every time I head east there is less and less of it. I've mostly been riding west. Sure love the pines though...a little moisture now and then, ha!
