A lot of the old style coding works still, but use [ ] instead of < >. It's not 100% the same, but close enough for most things.

I don't see any of the tool icons when creating a new thread. You know, the insert pic, insert link, smilies, etc.

My husband (NMTrialsGuy) does see them on his PC and when I login to his PC, I CAN see the icons. We both have Win 8.1, IE11, same anti-virus/firewall. Same skin (default black/orange). Same preferences (rich editor).

Any ideas what setting I should be looking for to get ?? sorry, I'm not usually so non-tech :shog (when I put in code I can get smilies and pics to work, but it'd be nice to have the buttons)

    Thanks!!

I'm on a MS Surface Pro (original) with Win 8.1 Pro. NMTG is on a Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 with Win 8.1 Home.

Not being familiar with those at all I'm gonna say they're probably hidden under something that looks like site artwork but is actually a dropdown. Parallel lines, or an ellipses or something of the like. My knee jerk reaction was that it's a scroll and search issue, that they're there, but you need to hunt for them a bit.

If I could put hand to your device I could figure it out, but unfortunately, I can't Sorry I'm not more help.

    Thanks for trying!

I've compared the Surface and Yoga IE, firewall, and AV settings to no avail. Still looking for differences and searching the threads for a clue.

Do you see the buttons in the other themes?

I have tried all three Styles: Revco, default, and Black Responsive (I think Style is what you mean by theme??) without any luck. I've moved the pointer all over the screen in hopes that it's somehow matching the background but again no luck.

I keep thinking it must be a blocking thing but sure haven't had any luck finding anything different from NMTG's Yoga. The search continues!

    cheers

Are you using Noscript or a script block like that. When I disallowed ADVrider in Noscript, the buttons went away.

No, not using Noscript or anything like it that I know of.

But I finally found it! I had ADVrider in the IE Compatibility View --must've been from back when I first got the Surface and a lot of sites didn't act right on it--and when I removed ADVrider from the list, the buttons appeared. :clap

If only I could be smarter sooner... :baldy. :becca

thank you Mossy_Crk and Mike.Gail for helping!!
