No wheelie in this pic, but its the only time I got ahead of that bastard on my old 500
Here's an older one. Trials. Dogs. Wheelies. Stoppies. No helmets. And gloves I still use today for chopping wood
What happened to that and why didn't you sell it to me?
I sold it to some guy in Wisconsin who was buying it for his GF. He had some sweet giant pickup truck. Like old school hot wheels type beach thing. Super rad. I had it posted on ADV & CL. No bites here. The thing was solid. I had a brand new piston\cylinder on it. I replaced all the motor hardware with new SS stuffs. All bearings had been replaced. New bars, grips, chain, sprockets, tires, serviced forks, spare plastics. Just a solid bike that I got barely any dollars for. That whole Buy Hi, Sell Low thing.
Last three of four bikes I've sold (Beta, DR650, DR350) I each made a sweet-ass profit on. Ten and fifteen years ago when I actually had a side business jockeying bikes and parts it was all I could do to break even.
And my V-Strom that I sold last summer...bought it new in '07 for $5600, owned it 10 years and put 40k miles on it, and got $3500 for it. Talk about cheap to own...
Only bike I've made money on was my Ducati Multistrada. But that was because I bought for dirt cheap and did all the motor work myself. Still pissed I gave the buyer the custom tools I made for working on it.
Ok, lets see it!!! I'm Certain that @trailer Rails can do a wheelie in the space of a garage if his sweet loving wife would take a pic of him!
I was 19.
I think that's whats making me balk at the idea of buying a brand spankin new bike. I've never really lost more than $200 on resale. Most bikes I make $1000 or more on.
The Dutchman in me is screaming at the idea of rolling it onto my truck and loosing thousands before I even start the stupid thing.
I had just reached liquor drinking age in SC. Beer drinking age was attained in 78.
'81... I was ten. Had to sell my PK Ripper and all of my hockey equipment so that Mom and I could move to Arkansas and be missionaries. Ended up with a Murray BMX from Walmart. That was a tough year...
Just realized I was 5 pages behind... skipped 5 pages and now I'm all caught up. Did I miss anything important?
There was that one EPIC post... can't remember who wrote it, or where it was exactly... you better go look for it.
@Plebeian, I've always wondered... is your profile picture your actual face?
Anyone what to know what a year of ownership of a BMW cost? I am afraid to total it. I bet close to the cost of a new China dirt bike.
I had a lot of time to riding across Texas to contemplate bike cost. My decision is that if buying brand new and keeping the bikes for 50,000miles it is cheaper to own 2 blueberries after fuel/tire/oil/etc costs. When compared to owning one big bike and trying to ride 2up.
Gawd hazz scene yawr sacrafice and rewarded ya with...... A Whirrrrrrrrrrr? He does werk in mysterious weighzzzz.
That is the result of when he hit a puddle in the Home Depot parking lot and had to lay it down
But of course. When you happen upon a photo that actually makes you look good, you gotta plaster that baby EVERYWHERE.
If ya dew the tew bikes and you get boob two back contact on heavy braking, she was following too closely.
