August 22, 2020, is International Female Ride Day (IFRD). The event celebrates women riders and their passion for powersports. Female riders from six continents and over 120 countries will take part showing their passion for powersports.
Created in 2007, IFRD focuses on powersports in general. As female ridership grows, IFRD welcomes female riders of all types of powersports, including off-road vehicles and snowmobiles.
IFRD founder Vicki Gray says the day is to advance awareness of women motorcycle riders and inspire women everywhere.
I started IFRD to advance the awareness of women motorcycle riders and inspire women everywhere.”
“However you prefer to ride, it is truly an experience like no other — exhilarating, liberating, and fulfilling. The female riding community is one of expanding camaraderie on open roads and trails.”
The event’s tagline is “Just Ride,” and it’s the only requirement to participate in IFRD. Participants around the world can celebrate the day by simply getting outside for a solo ride. Or they can go riding with friends and family. Riders may celebrate with other participants by digitally sharing photos on social media using the hashtags #IFRD and #InternationalFemaleRideDay.
IFRD is also partnering with Polaris, and those who don’t currently own a machine or are interested in trying out a new type of ride, Polaris Adventures, offers its RZR®, Slingshot, and snowmobile rentals to provide custom experiences in select locations. But don’t forget that there may be other manufacturer dealers or demo days that can help female riders celebrate IFRD as well. As IFRD says, “Just Ride.”
