British Motorcycle Magazine MCN is showing spy shots of what could be BMW’s newest middleweight sport tourer. MCN claims that new machine utilizes BMW’s the same 853 cc engine found in the F 850 GS. Styling, however, is vastly different with a more angular and aggressive look. The new styling is somewhat similar to BMW’s S1000XR sport tourer.
Unlike the F 850 GS, the spy shots show machines with what appear to be wheels similar in size to BMW’s F800GT. The F800GT sports 17″ wheels on both ends of the bike. The suspension will likely have less travel considering the role this model is expected to play. If the above variables are true, the new sport tourer should have a lower seat height and a more relaxed riding position as well.
Earlier in 2018, BMW unveiled a concept bike called the 9cento. It is an edgy sport tourer with a tiny tail section and small integrated magnetically mounted panniers. These spy shots show a significantly similar looking machine with oversize traditional panniers and a larger windscreen. So could this be the real world adaptation of the 9cento?
With its smaller size and 853 cc engine, BMW looks to be preparing its next middleweight sport tourer. The F800GT is a bit long in the tooth, so it would make sense for BMW to be preparing a replacement.
BMW has not announced an expected price or delivery date.
