Overland Expo continues to adjust to the coronavirus pandemic, with another virtual event confirmed for this October.
This year, Overland Expo was supposed to have an event in the southwest and an event in the Rockies, closing out the season with a rally in the Appalachians. That’s not going to happen, thanks to COVID-19; first, organizers postponed the dates, then said it was all going virtual. We’ve had two virtual events already, and now OX has confirmed the third, for October 17.
The Virtual Overland Expo Fall event is free, as OX lined up sponsors to pay for the show. You’ll get the usual lineup of educational seminars (travel tips, cooking ideas, survival and navigation guides, and so on). Like earlier virtual events, this one has a “virtual campground,” where you can reserve a campsite and upload photos of your adventure bike (or 4×4, if you swing that way) in full camp setup, for a chance to win a prize. The Cool Ride Contest does kind of the same thing, without the camping aspect.
There’ll also be product demos and a new product showcase, and there’ll be show discounts from the show’s sponsors and virtual exhibitors.
The organizers have also put together another Overland Film Festival, a curated selection of short films as well as interviews with the films’ producers.
The virtual fall event runs 12 PM to 7 PM EDT; access the show by visiting here, but if you miss it, OX says “content will be housed on the virtual event website for later viewing.” You might not get all the fun of the festival, or the product discounts, but you won’t entirely miss out.
