One of two annual overland expos will be held November 9-11, 2018 in Ashvelle, North Carolina.  This years Overland Expo East will be held at the Reeb Ranch.  The ranch was founded in 2011 by the Oskar Blues Brewery.  The idea was to create a location where they could combine a place to hang out, some excellent riding terrain (initially pedal bikes) and the ability to sample some of their beer.  Since opening, the ranch has begun to host other events like Overland Expo East.

Overland Expo East is designed to get like minded “overlanders” together in single location.  The expo allows these overlanders to do several things.  While there they can “Get trained”, “Get Outfitted”, “Get Inspired” and “Get Going”.

Overland Expo aims to ensure visitors are up to date and ready for their overland trips.  They do this by providing a number of resources that are designed to help them be inspired and reach their overlanding goals more comfortably and safely.

This years Overland Expo East will feature over 175 specialized training classes for both cars and bikes.  Attendees can choose to participate with their own vehicle in the Camel Trophy Expedition Skills Area (CTESA).  Training includes several skills area including: recovery, Driving, Maintenance/Repair and Static Skills.

Motorcycle overlanders can choose to participate on their own bikes in the Motorcycle Expedition Skills Area (MESA).  On a custom built training course, riders can learn/upgrade their ADV riding skills.  Whether the participant is new to off pavement adventures or just want to advance their skills, MESA training has classes for every level and bike size.  To test out your new skills, they also offer the motorcycle obstacle challenge!

Classroom training is available with topics touching on travel techniques, navigation, communication skills, photography/videography, medical preparedness, patient assessment and how to put together a proper first aid kit.

There will also be hands on training pavillions that will get you out of the classroom to let you try out your newly earned classroom skills.  Presenters and trainers from all over the world will be available to achieve your overlanding goals.

Of course there will be a large vendors area and demo area where you can find the latest and greatest aids for overlanding.
