If you are a fan of Ducati, there’s an auction that you may be interested in.  Be sure to bring a thick wallet because this particular bike may sell for $100,000 or more.

Ducati Supermono

The Ducati Supermono being auctioned by Bonhams auction house.

What kind of bike would fetch such a sum?  The answer is a Ducati Supermono and it’s an extremely rare machine.  Ducati made only 67 of the bikes between 1993 and 1995.

Ducati guru Pierre Terblanche designed the Supermono with a high power to weight ratio.  It sports many carbon fiber pieces including the fuel tank, subframe, bodywork, rear sets, airbox, and its instrument housing.

Ducati Supermono trellis Ohlins

A trellis frame and Ohlins suspension grace the Supermono.

Ducati chose magnesium for the wheels, engine case covers, and wheels.  Front and rear suspension are by Ohlins.  Brembo calipers and rotors provide front and rear braking duties.

A single cylinder double overhead cam desmodromic 550cc engine provides power (later versions used a 572cc engine).  With 78 horsepower and a weight of roughly 277 pounds, it is an impressive machine.

The auction bike was never used as a race machine and is in “perfect” running condition.  Its prime use was as a track day machine.

You’ll have to be in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 24, 2019, to bid.  The starting bid is $95,000.  Many think that the bike will easily top $100,000.  If you are interested in the Supermono, visit the Bonhams website where you can get all the details on this rare machine.
