If you would like to take part in the 2020 BMW International GS Trophy, your time has come. BMW Motorrad has announced the opening of registration for team USA.
Interested participants must register to compete in a qualifier event from May 31st – June 2, 2019. Rawhyde Adventures will host the qualifier which will be held in California City, CA. The qualifier is open to registered owners of BMW GS or HP2 Enduro series motorcycles.
The top 3 competitors will participate in the GS Trophy to be held February 9 – 16, 2020 in New Zealand. In addition, the two best women from the US national qualifier secure a starting place in the qualifier for the International female team.
The BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy has been held every two years since 2008. During that time, teams from all over the world have competed in locations such as Tunisia, South Africa, Patagonia, Canada, Thailand, and Mongolia.
BMW emphasizes that the GS Trophy is not a rally or a race. It is an event where teamwork and skill are more valued than speed. That’s not to say that significant skills are not necessary. BMW says that riders may experience terrain such as “…single trails and nature tracks to routes through water sand and mud.”
If you’d like to compete in the qualifier you must register by calling 800-961-4269, Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM PST. There is a registration fee of $349 which covers the following:
- Event entry

- Onsite camping
- Event T-shirt
- Live entertainment
