According to Indian outlet Money Control and carandbike, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL) has suspended production at its Kherki Dhaula manufacturing facility in Gurgaon, Haryana until further notice.  The company says the decision to suspend production temporarily is taken in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The steps are also in line with government directives.

In a late evening statement, Suzuki (SMIPL) Managing Director Koichiro Hirao said that the first and foremost priority of the company is to ensure the health and safety of its employees and all stakeholders.  He added that Suzuki is determined to take all possible steps in that direction.

Part of the measures to ensure the safety of its workplace employees includes a “Work From Home” advisory.  The advisory applies to employees not involved in maintaining essential services.

As the pandemic grows, the Haryana government announced a lockdown on Sunday in seven districts, including Gurgoan, until March 31, 2020.  It is hoped that this lockdown will help to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The lockdown is quite far-reaching, and All shops, commercial establishments, offices and factories, workshops, godowns, etc. will close their operations except for essential services.
