Back in November, during our coverage of EICMA, we told you about a new helmet AGV had planned for the North American market.
They never explained why sales are being limited to one continent but regardless, the AGV AX9 is now available for purchase.
Here’s a quick recap of what looks like a highly versatile helmet and the next step up from the popular AX-8 dual sport lid.
It’s lightweight, has a big field of vision, multiple configurations and good ventilation.
Both the peak and face shield can be removed, so you have a lot of possible options; peak with or without goggles, no peak with or without goggles.
The opening has 190 degrees of horizontal vision and 110 degrees of vertical vision. The shield is a scratch resistant and includes Pinlock anti-fog technology.
It doesn’t weigh much, thanks to a fiber composite shell, built with carbon, aramid and fiberglass. Depending upon how you have it configured, it amounts to just 3.5 pounds, give or take 10 grams (or a tenth of a pound. Please don’t ask me how many ounces that is because math.)
The air port on the chin guard can be adjusted to steer the airflow inside the helmet and all of the ventilation ports are adjustable. The liner and cheek pads are moisture-wicking and the neckroll is water resistant and designed to keep water from channeling inside the helmet. The pads and liner are removable for washing. The interior is designed to accommodate a generic audio system.
The AGV AX9 is DOT and ECE certified.
This premium helmet comes with a premium price. Now available on AGV’s website, it’ll set you back anywhere from $500 to $630.
