@NEPA 450x I gotta say: I've been following this thread since the beginning and I still wrestle with the question of whether to get an L or not. Seeing all of the work that you've done in the last year to get the bike to your liking definitely deters me from getting this bike. Now I'm sure that you are more particular with how your bike runs than I am but, at the same time, I am not nearly as mechanically proficient as you are either. I'll stay perched on top of the fence for a while yet I suppose.
Ya no 288,,, Im going to try to put this in English,,lol 1. The Bike was Brand New Model, not many parts were out for it Yet. No R&D out on it yet. 2. Its a Honda,Parts avab forever, they never wear out if you take care of them, and I new the epa.ecm fuel control on anything is going to need work to work up to my expectations. And I new that was the ONLY problem with the 450L. As in all new Bikes that are EPA approved. 3. I Like to making things , in stages on the cheap, to achieve my expected/desired results. And I have achieved my desired results in stages of what I expect from them. 4. Pipe swell baffle Mods were Free, and once I got the Booster Plug for 150.00, 2 desired stages were complete. 5. once I got the DBK box I spent 150.00 on Headpipe/08 450x can and 200.00 on Attitude/DBK/JD box. and built a Ex system that was light/quiet/and flowed. And I achieved my expected results of stage 3 and 4, I ws pretty happy with stage 4,, And stages 1 to 4 were achieved between 10/18 and 3/19... 6 . I rode 450L with stage 4 from 3/19 to 8/19,,, 2800 miles, And as it is with fkn with the dog you keep poking with a stick,,, Its going to BITE YOU ONE DAY,,,,, as in the Vortex,,,, 7. Yes it Bite me,,,now comes stage 5.Now with 2800 miles on L on 8/23/19 I start my desired /expected results of stage 5, from 8/23 to 8/30 I think, but it was 2 days after crashing 3 times at Japs Pond. That I did my own tune to the Vortex, I than rode another 1000 miles with what tune I have in it now and can Adj for more power/hit in seconds on my custom map I have in 450L to this day, 1000 miles of perfect,,, 8. The 450L is everything I have I expect and desire from it now, It is PERFECT,,, maybe down the road I might get maybe some wheels, gas tank, maybe revalve something in susp ???? But I have NO NEED for that now, sorry everything is is a Perfect HONDA I Expect from Honda Period. 9. If I had your Money I would of bought ,one of the 3 Ex systems, and I think it would be a PC, Than the toss up between BP/DBK or the Vortex tuners,,, Bolted it all up and ride,,,, 10, So whats the Problem than 288,,,LOL If you rode my 450L,youi would never bring it back, id have to come and get it, 302 you,,,haha,,,bustn you got ya,,,,, 111. Im tickled Pink with the 450L,,, FOX PECKER PINK,,,, Joe T.
Great day riding the L. The L is so confident in its self, that it's making my confidence naturally come out. So,fox pecker pink ??? So,how many out there remember were when and how a Red color got that name??? 1976,Ohio 125 National or GP, My buddy,Dale Evans,Millerton Pa, rode my 76 cr 125 there, Our pit was across from team Hondas Box van. Marty Smith was riding,,what would to me,looked like my 79 cr250,but a 125,,, in 1976,,, Honda made some of the first super thin, flexible plastic number plates, and Color was Red,,,till someone,,,no names ,, cleaned them and color turned pink,, well, that what I remember, I had pictures at one time of the weekend, but,I haven't seen them since 85.
Well I could write a book about A1, If I could write what my Marrs mind is putting together. Well I don't get but a few Races, So I watch Live timing, Hats off to JB,for the Win!!! I think he's been training with Ronnie Mac !! Give that man a PBR,,, !!!!! New Mac shaved, drinks Busch, can't Roost or Jump,, but old BamBam can,, lol Marrs
Well ships leaving for Marrs, and it's time to pack things up, I don't no if my English got any better, Or some of you might of learned a bit of Marrs English on here. If you happen to see a Red star in the sky at night, Wave.
ok, Thanks, Dam cold weather spun me,,,lol its funny on other sites they ask about seeing or doing things I did over a year ago,, so not many must come to marrs for a visit, lol But some do,,,lol
the first part is from Japs Pond road, the rest was taken the same day riding in January, 450L does it all for me, last part is 55 mph roll on , to MARRS end of Numbers.lol Its still nothing like WGI,Road America,Daytona, were life starts at 130,,,dang Marrs, And for all worring about VIBES on 450L:,,,There is none,,,
It just so happened that a great deal fell into my lap. If it wasn’t for that, I’d still be perched on my fence. As it is, I have taken the red pill...............oh, and it was 8 days to be exact.
It took me (quite) a while to understand MARRS but...thanks to this thread and the Mega thread I'm confidently picking-up my '19 L this weekend. A couple AWESOME threads. Been a while since I had a bike and REALLY looking forward to the L. I think this will be a step-up from my IT 465 that I had 20+ years ago (it was used when I got it). Lol Glad you're back @NEPA 450x . Been on a search for a stock X exhaust system but that's not worked-out. REALLY want this bike to be as quiet as possible (not looking for top performance but want it smooth and quiet). The Pro Circuit was mentioned on this thread as possibly being the quieter of the three so I called PC today to confirm their X system will fit on the L. I was told that it would fit but that I needed to swap-over the wiring harness from an X to my L (WTF!). I questioned the guy several times as to where I could research this necessary wiring harness swap that was new to me and the guy just said that's what he has been told needs to happen or there will be problems with the engine on this model after a pipe swap. I asked if he meant I needed to install a Vortex and he said no, it was the X wiring harness I needed. Not sure where this would have come from. Called Rockymountainatv.com and asked if the PC T-5 X system would fit on an L and they gave me the standard memo answer that if it isn't listed as fitting it may not. And if I install it they wouldn't take it back. Also inquired with PC if the Ti-6 Pro insert (which has been said to be quieter than the Ti-6 non Pro) would fit in the T-5 muffler they make for the L and was told it will not fit. I would very much like to know the following: 1. Are we sure the PC T-5 is the quietest of the bunch? 2. Any ideas how it compares to the stock X system? 3. Has anyone installed a PC T-5 X system on a '19 or '20 L? Thanks again guys for an awesome site and threads. I've been on TT for a while (just read--dont post) but only recently found-out about this site. Sorry for the long first post. I just had a cheeseburger and some PBR's... Craig
Here is a thread BTACO had when selling PC ex system,I'm sure he would not mind helping you out,,, https://advrider.com/f/threads/pro-circuit-t-6-exhaust-system-for-‘19-crf450x-450l.1404627/ I think he was testing stuff, and I'm sure he rides like the wind,on the L,being almost stock I think, and some guys just have that much talent that they never see 1/4 throttle, lol As for the guy on the phone,,might be epa proofing,,,lol, only reason to change wire harness is to use a X ecm,,, oops u from Pelosi's state? She hates Red,,,lol Don't worry we will set u upright,,, Long post,,lol,,wait till i can't ride, and it's to cold,,,like last year on marrs,,lol Yeah I get on a roll, board,, Welcome to the " Rock Garden" Craig !! (English here is , what it is,you will figure it out) Joe T.
I kind of wouldn't mind a 450L again but leave it stock except seat and tank. No exhaust or ECU mods. Keep making the mistake of screwing around with stuff so much and then it all gets away from the original purpose. I'd had the most fun before I started making it the fire breather it can be. Plus good fuel economy, smooth enough, and my heavy a** bringing the seat height down to manageable territory. Getting to be time to get another dirt type bike. I miss going out and exploring on two wheels in the dirt. Last year I wasn't riding much street during winter, mostly the L. I still think the L looks best with Beta coming in second.
Just first minute was a old clip, but rest was last week, the program has a candy color u can add to clip, I liked the Brite Honda color in candy mode, I'm learning to make clips, Main reason for first part was just to show that the L works about any place riding it. I'm inpressed with the front tire till mud get over 3 in deep, Front was a shinko adventure trail,90-90-21,40/60 Rear was a Kendall k270 ,520/18, 50/50. Both were put on once ground froze up here, just so I could extend my riding season here.
I was just referring to all the leaves on the trees. Oh how I long for 70° weather again.. I hate this time if year.. one thing about living on the ocean.. it's always blowing around here..
