Jason, so the tank will be retrofittable to the existing system as you mentioned. What do you think will be the change out time from tool box to tank or vice versa depending on the type of trip we might be planning?

Thinking about the Mosko Moto panniers. The 35 and 25 litre bags. Has anybody mounted these on their twin? Curious as to which brand of racks, when mounted, provided the least width.
Also maybe installing the 25 on the right and the 35 on the left to keep it symetrical.
    Thoughts...ideas?

Hi Mrob - that's correct. Camel ADV is using the existing BUMOT Defender Africa Twin racks to build the prototype, so it will fit directly behind your current system (once the toolbox is removed).

Great question on time/effort required to swap between the two. I'll talk with Cory at Camel ADV and see if I can get a sense of how involved and/or what would be required.

Anyone have any feedback on the Honda brand panniers? Looks like a reasonably priced option

Has anybody put the Bumot panniers on a silver AT. Their website shows a red and tri colour bike and I am trying to get an idea what the colours look like on a silver AT. They offer three colours...silver, black and a type of grey.
Anybody out there with some photos.

Hi Weevrider - we've got some customer pictures towards the end of our main BUMOT Vendor thread, but here are a couple from the guys at Aussie Heartland showing a silver Africa Twin with Frozen Gray 45L panniers. They also have a Vimeo video (embedded below) that shows black on the silver bike.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Jason,
I am liking the black colour but would like to see the silver colour on the silver AT before I make up my mind. If any of your customers have used this combo, if you could forward a photo or two, it would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

I'll post a few pictures tonight, but thought some might appreciate the feedback following install of these side racks for use with Mosko Moto Backcountry bags.

    Rack Needs:
I wanted a design that was easy to remove and left minimal mounting hardware hanging around once they were off. Also wanted to keep running w/out the rear footpegs, so something like Givi wasn't an option. I gots big feets and never have a pillion, so off they go. I liked the SWM Quick-Lock design/hardware after looking at it on other bikes. Very simple.

    Installation:
Fitment was very easy with a couple of lessons learned. Loosely fit all hardware including the "feet" that drop into the OEM mounts. Instructions direct you to align the top of the rear bracket (links rear facing bars of the racks together at the fender) with the top of the fender drilling two 1/4" holes in the process. Heck, there's already two holes there for the license plate, so I used those. Bracket bolted up fine, but sat about 1/4" too low to align with both bars causing some interference. Made me think the rack was wonky at first. Moved the bracket up to the position clearly called out in the instructions, drilled holes that would align with my license plate, tossed the OEM plate holder (ugly), and all is good.

    Issue #1:
The left side SWM rack sits "inside" the big ass grab handle of the AT. No problem if you run hard or soft bags that don't require any vertical clearance, but an immediate issue with the cool Mosko Moto wedge design. Had some 1/2" rigid foam laying around and fabbed up some standoff blocks that gave me an idea of the offset needed to clear the handle and mount the bag properly. Somewhere between 1/2" and 3/8" is the right answer, just be aware of how much thread engagement you get with the Mosko hardware. Had a buddy cut up some Delrin and mill it down to the right thickness and done deal. These now fit between the Mosko wedge and the SWM rack allowing the bag to vertically clear the grab handle as you mount/dismount.

    Issue #2
The pegs. SWM design places the forward mounting bracket outboard of the peg hangars using the stock hardware with extended Allen bolts and a couple of spacers. Simple install, but I didn't want the rear pegs. Once we finished with the little Delrin job we moved on to the lathe and spun up some simple aluminum spacers to replace the peg hangers.

    First World Problem
Bags came from a buddy with a Super Ten (left side exhaust). Wanted Mosko's anyway and a deal's a deal, but they're set up as 35L right / 25L left. I had to reverse them (which is a convenient capability of their design) due to pipe now on the right. Probably couldn't tell if you didn't know the brand and it won't make a bit of a difference in the end, but it sorta bugs. As they now only sell matched sets, I'm lucky I could get these anyway.

Only other thing I'd change if I could spec the rack to my own dimensions would be to pull the right side inboard a couple inches as the gap between the Arrow pipe and the rack is wider than necessary, but that's nitpicking.

For anyone in the USA that has ordered directly from Holan in Poland. How was your purchasing experience with them? How long did it take to receive your things after ordering? Any issues with Customs? Was it a painless purchase? I am looking at an order of close to $2,000 US and want to make sure it is a secure purchase. If I remember correctly, I have read about some communication issues. Thanks for any information you may have for me.
