Good luck on the paint fun. Yes, so much work, so little time on the road…

I concur, that is a seriously sweet seat. Where can I find one of those for my RD03? :ear

I sent in the original seat to James at Renzaco Racing, who repacked and recovered it after we discussed what I was looking for. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it performs. It looks great in any case.

Hi, a few questions regarding the RD03 if I may:

I tried to search this thread for some info on the XRV650 (RD03) headlights, but after reading some replies I'm still not sure about the bulbs/sockets.

I looked on the outer glass of my headlights and it says Stanley 4941 and the bulbs inside are rounded.

Judging by what I've read here, they must be that odd socket/bulb type that somebody described and they must by 35W, right?

Is there a way I can mount standard H4 bulbs? (without bending/breaking something?) Also, what's the name of the socket of my bulbs? Because If I can't do a H4 conversion, then I want those yellow bulbs (out of aesthetic reasons).

Also, it seems that the right panel (speedo) must have 1 bulb which is not working because it's not lit properly.
I've tried to look at the microfiche to see what sort of bulbs are needed but still can't get my head around it.

I know this might sound dumb, but can somebody point me what are the actual type of bulbs needed to light the dash (both panels) (type/socket/wattage/etc) ? Also the blue light which indicates that the high beam is on seems to be faint (the other: Neutral, SideStand, Oil, etc seem to lit up fine). Not sure whether the plastic is faded or if the bulb is ''numb'/faint.

Also, the speed snail (that small round plastic thingie /speed sensor) is that part used in other bikes? (such as XL600V/etc)? Or the one used in the RD03 is unique? I have to replace that as well as from my last ride the speedo seems to be dead.

Decided not to sell it. Had a lot of interest, but in the end, this bike is far too useful to me right now to sell.

Took long enough for me to come to my senses huh? :lol3

I'm in Calgary at the moment where I had to come back and work a shift. I will be flying back to Whitehorse YT tomorrow and carry on where I left off.

I may be meeting up with my German friend Christian Vogel again. Following taken in Carcross YT...the world's smallest desert.

I think heading back to Atlin BC again to visit my friend might be in order. The camping there is good. :D

Good decision. Now I can stop beating my head against that wall.

Can I have first go if (ever) you change your mind?

    The seat really sucks!

Please advice me of an alternative seat (not upholstering, no sheep skin, Airhawk or other cover). I use the bike for commuting, simply too unpractical to cover and uncover the seat with something many times every day - I live in Norway, rainy days are frequent (my ass gets wet when I sit it down on that soaked Airhawk I currently use).

I want another seat! I need it for long distance on-road touring.

And: Yes, the original seat really sucks (for extensive on-road rides).

I have done my searches. However, seems difficult to identify an established consensus. For that reason I'd be thankful go get your opinion.

    Thanks in advance. :thumb

No one seat works for every one. Just like handlebars and tires.

Differences in body weight, hip width, leg length, reach to the bars, etc, etc all affect what works and what doesn't.

Best bet is to find a local upholstery guy, pull off the cover and work with foam, try, cut, add, cut, try ....repeat. When you find what you like, have him cover it. Done.

As indicated, I am after another seat altogether. My family/work schedule doesn't allow much room for messing about with upholstering. (Don't have much free time for riding the bike, hence mostly used for everyday commuting.)

My frame should be quite adequate for this type of bike; 185 cm (6 feet) tall / 95 kilo. I raised the bars 2.5 cm (1 inch), lowered the pegs 4.5 cm and very happy with that. I need a seat that is somewhat more dished out. Tempted to try the Touratech, but would be a too expensive experiment if I anyway end up selling the bike.

So northrider has his 3 AT up in the flea market. People asked about getting it in from Canada. A 93. So some member started saying it was legal I gave then customs 101 and the guy started calling me ignorant and still not telling me how it can be done. I've imported mukitipe vehicles and my sister is a ICI on the NHSTA list. I guess I'm just ignorant.

So EuroEnduro break it down. How did the 4 bikes end up 15 minutes from me? Please explain why you chose bikes made before 90.

I don't know what is your beef, and why calling out EuroEnduro? If you read that thread, you will find 2 dozen + late Africa Twins are legally in the US. Being the late comer on the subject of ATs, maybe you should just sit back, relax and read. :D
