Installed my Bumot Defender Panniers today. Very pleased with these panniers and how they look on the bike.
installed Altrider skidplate and headlight guard on my GSA. Both a minor pain in the ass to install (although the second time I'm sure would go much quicker), but both look like they will serve their purposes just fine. Going to try to keep this the extent of my 2016 season farkles. We'll see how that goes. :|
I took mine into the dealer because some jerk in a truck decided to pull out in front of me, so we both had a quaint crash.
This on a GSAW or GSW? How tall are you? Looking to purchase for my GSW (not A) a larger screen for less noise / better protection. Thanks
I've got a Saddlemen Adventure Track Seat on my KLR and love it. Bought it slightly used from an inmate here. While I'm very happy with my current SC Tall on my GSA, the Saddlemen Track was going to be my 2nd choice if not. In fact, I'd probably still buy one used from an unhappy inmate, just to try it out as well, if the price was right!
Interested to know how it feels,I have been researching seats too and it seems that Saddlemen are the best for me
I ordered Rox Risers from Revzilla yeaterday, they'll be here tomorrow so today I started the install by moving the brake & clutch cables. That's one of the reasons I moved my Radar Detector up under the Nav5, I think the handle bar mount would be too high with the risers?? I'm doing a 5 day 1,200-1,500 miles ride next week so it was time for a fresh set of TKC70's. I have 5,150 miles on a set of Trail Attacks, the front would make the trip not so for the rear. I like to change tires on warm sunny days & use the sun to warm the tires...not the case today. A work light & aluminum foil warmed them up nicely!! I've changed many tires in the last 15 years today was the 1st time I tried the zip tie method...IT WORKS!!!
I now have the cleanest Rok straps and topcase in the known universe. Went over to my dealer to get an annual inspection sticker. Whilst there, waiting at the usual urgent dealership pace, I browsed the other bikes and picked up a quart of antifreeze and a bottle of bike wash, just because. Threw both in my Globescout topcase for the 7 mi trip to the gas station and home. pulled into the garage, opened the case, and yup, the bottle of bike wash unscrewed itself, bathing my new Rok straps I had thrown in last night. Was able to salvage most of it, as Globescouts are seemingly very watertight, just poured it back in the bottle with a funnel. It now has a nice black tinge, as the wash was doing its best to eat away the black anodizing inside the case. 15 min to get all the foam to go away. Straps still soaking. And I still haven't been able to wash the bike. At least it wasn't the antifreeze.
I just did my first oil change. Not that it needed it. I just wanted my oil changed over to my standard. The PO had already changed out the crazy pan bolts. Only needed the 13mm socket and a 6mm hex. Is there a longer oil filter available for these? Something that would put the base down where a regular strap filter wrench could be used. Sent from outside my mind.
Is what you have now similar to the 'Smartswitch' in concept? Can you add functionality and customizr using software programming?
Yes. I haven't read the Samrtswitch marketing material too carefully but sounds like it's similar device. Allowing you to control other devices with the bike's original switches etc. And when you're writing the code yourself, of course you can add and modify the functions to do exactly what you want. I have the lights working exactly like I want. Next I was thinking maybe add control for the heated gear via the Wonderwheel. But that gets little tricky when the Wonderwheel is already controlling the GPS. I don't want the heated jacket to warm up when I zoom out!
Not sure if this is the right forum but..... What I'd like to do to my GS is come up with some kind of quick-release exhaust that would allow me to become VERY loud when lane-splitting on CA freeways (ie disconnect the exhaust at the muffler), then become quiet again on city streets. They say loud pipes save lives. After almost getting squished between cars yesterday I believe it. I just don't want to be annoying in residential areas. Has anyone ever seen/heard of anything like this?
@musca999, you won't want to mess with any kind of quick-release, even if its button-activated, twice a day with your commute. Rather, get a Stebel or similar horn, and just keep vigilant while riding. Loud pipes (with their constant sound) mean nothing to plugged-in millenials with their smartphones and earphones.
No. I've not heard of such a thing, and I don't ever want to. Loud pipes don't save lives, they just piss people off that then have yet another reason to hate motorcyclists. Keep your bike quiet, let attentive riding do your "life saving". Sorry for the preaching, I'm f-ing tired of loud bikes. States enacting noise pollution laws directed at motorcycles are the result of "loud pipes save lives"...national parks are first on the list, regular streets will eventually be on the list. I can't say as I think that will be too soon. Asswipes with loud pipes are a scourge on motorcycledom.
Installed an ACD skidplate, really nice plate, really poor install instructions and horrible packaging. Here is a link, if you want to learn more http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/my-experience-with-an-acd-skid-plate-install.1145514/
Nope for a 1995 R1100GS, shocks, boots, O2 sensor fooler, taillights, etc... Getting ready for a big weekend, probably not this weekend though!LOL! P.S. Kudos for realizing that was a bicycle in the shot!!!!
Today's installation: Givi V47 Monokey top box... And my coveted ADV decal!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
