Triumph Motorcycles America is recalling certain Triumph Thruxton models from the years 2016 – 2019. The issue stems from a defective side stand spring. The manufacturer says that the spring may fracture and possibly allow the side stand switch to activate and subsequently shut off the engine.
According to Triumph, the spring’s failure is attributable to a certain resonance frequency generated by the motorcycle. To eliminate the issue, Triumph will utilize a revised design spring that is inside a rubber sleeve. The new design will remove the harmful resonance frequency.
The affected motorcycles are indicated below:
Triumph will notify owners and dealers will replace the side stand spring free of charge. This recall is expected to begin on February 10, 2020. Owners may contact Triumph Customer Service at 1-678-854-2010 and cite recall number SRAN 570.
