First Dakar stage: Ricky Brabec took 3rd place (Honda HRC). Andrew Short 13th place (on Husqvarna), and 3 other American Riders, one in 46th, 47 and 97th place. I hope to see a American rider on the podium this year.

I think this will be Honda's year, KTM has dominated for so many years that it seemed impossible but now there is some actual competition with factory teams
I look forward to someone like HRC or Husky on the podium

Does anyone know of a place in Phoenix or Phoenix area that can replace a zipper on my winter full suit. Has a heavy duty zipper and it has seen better days. No one up in Flag will touch it. It's just an Olympia full suit.

    Thanks.

It was fun watching the highlights on NBC-SN. I find it hard to believe the pace those guys hold over such long distances. I’d think a smaller or lighter bike would be a huge advantage. Guess a lot of that weight is designed in by all the race requirements, safety, and navigation accessories though.

The pace they hold is used as strategy to keep the best timing per stage. In order to achieve that, u must be a better navigator than rider so to speak. You're right, the weight of these bikes can varies from 400 lbs to 450 lbs due to all the equipment required to be on by A.S.O. Org. not to mention the adds-on that comes with the bike. What so crazy about this race is the surprises u get as u race along, one minute ur the winner next minute something unexpectedly go very wrong. Pablo Quintanilla was winning the race when this happened to him in stage 10 few KM before the finish line. He still got up and finished in 4th place. Not to mention what happened to R. Brabec.
