After reading the 25 rules for dining out thread in Jo Momma, figured I would post up here to find out more about local joints you guys like to dine at/think are great. Also what about doing a meet up once or twice a month to test out if the joints ARE any good or not. Figure once or twice a month pick a theme(bbq, burger, mexican, whatever) type joint and vote between 4 of them. As it gets warmer maybe make them ride and eats, or hell if you're a soldier and ride in 20 degree weather then feel free to ride to any of them. :) So what ya got that's good in your area. For Tulsa and surrounding some awesome joints off the top of my head... Pizza: Umberto's 21st and Harvard. Cheap pizza and it's awesome. New York style. Burgers: Brownies also at 21st and Harvard. Root Beer in a frosty mug, cole slaw, fries and a double chee burger = stellar. Mexican: Cancun, I haven't found a place that beats cancun yet. 7th and Lewis. We also eat here every Friday for anyone that wants to come out. Show up about 11:30am for lunch. Breakfast. Will have to go with Brownies again, actually I like Brownies for breakfast more than their burgers, probably the best waffle in the world.
Looks like my part of town is kicking ass and taking names. For BBQ, I'll throw in Elmer's at 41st and Peoria. It be bad- trust me.
I heard a rumor that there is a mexican place up the street from Cancun's that blows them away.. going to have to hit that place up pretty soon to see for myself!
I'd be up for anything actually. If any plans are made, somebody please PM me. I might miss it since I don't check the site on a regular basis, but my PMs are forwarded to me via email and I will see that. For the life of me I can't remember the name of a breakfast hot spot here in Tulsa. It is very basic but good and cheap hole in the wall food. Hrmmmpf, middle age is affecting my memory or the Jack is. I'll find out the name of it. Steve
We need to do a steak run to the Cattlemen's... I'd kill for some lamb fries right now... for those who have never been I'll lead you buy....
For mexican, you got to try La Mansion, 41st and 169. Their other place out in Catoosa, not so good, but the original rocks. For breakfast, Phils diner south of 31st and harvard is good but pricy. If you want enough to eat on for a week, you have to go to Hugos in Claremore. Those people try to kill me every time I go in there. My waistline can't afford more than once a year or so.
Last time I was there it was literally slop on a plate. I said I would never go back. And I heard Cattlemans was good. It was on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives but I am out on the lamb fries. That just ain't right!
The lamb fries are fantastic but I am a certified nasty bastard so YMMV..... They don't serve them at breakfast though so I am out if it's a breakfast run...I can do eggs and bacon at home.
Damn that show, I want to eat everywhere he goes! That show makes me hungry. So when we going to Cattlemans?:dg
You need professionial help. We'll bring Doc I used to have a girlfriend that liked to put my balls in her mouth and that was ok. But I'm out with putting them in mine.
Never even heard of the joint(cattlemens). Just let me know when, oh and where is it again? I'll probably line out a hopefully twisty friendly street route and meet you dirt guys there. Speaking of Elmers, when you guys want to meet up there for lunch? Also stuts on the north side bbq row is pretty awesome. Good buttermilk pies. Not Oark good but pretty good. Elmers...
http://www.cattlemensrestaurant.com/food.htm Hell we had a meet with riders from Tx, Ca, and Mo meet on a cold assed winter morning once so you pussies from T Town have no excuses....
In BA, Jake's Cafe makes a good breakfast. The Angus Inn is in an old drugstore downtown. Their prices are very reasonable, and they grill a nice filet. Compradres is good Mexican food, and the margaritas are so good that I can only drink one. There's good food all over this state. Just stay out of Stillwater, that place is a shit hole.
